Championing the UK’s future success as a global hub for Financial and Professional Service

Over 100 members of the WCIB and Financial Services Group of livery companies registered to hear Damian Nussbaum, Director of Innovation and Growth, City of London Corporation give a fascinating presentation on 23rd November with the subject 'Championing the UK’s future success as a global hub for Financial and Professional Service'.  The presentation was hosted by the Senior Warden, John Bennett MBE, who introduced Damian and moderated the Q&A session.

In his talk Damian explained some of the background to the evidence and conclusions presented in the report highlighting its aim to present tangible actions and recommendations in order for London to be a globally competitive city with an emphasis on openness and inclusivity with a healthy and welcoming urban environment.  He said the challenges of the Covid pandemic and Brexit provide the opportunity to recharge London in five areas:

-Curate thriving innovative ecosystems in strategic sectors

-Enable businesses of all types and sizes to flourish and adapt

-Open London's opportunities to everyone

-Invest in the infrastructure of tomorrow

-Be an inclusive and outward-looking city for all of the UK and the world

The fact that the session overran and that the Senior Warden could not get to all the many and varied questions submitted indicates how successful the event was.
